Job Postings

  • Actors Needed:

Supporting actors needed for August shoot in Comstock Park, MI (just north of Grand Rapids). We'll be shooting primarily on weekends (Fridays through Sundays) from August 15 through September 7. There's no pay, but all cast members will receive a DVD copy of the finished product (and it'll look great on talent reels).

The project consists of a series of campy short films in the style of 1930s adventures serials (like Tarzan and Flash Gordon). Each chapter ends with a cliffhanger to bring the audience back for the next exciting chapter (which will be available online). I need one male and five females. Specifics:

One Male Over 50 (the older the better). He's an elderly scientist who knows pretty much everything and has tremendous enthusiasm despite failing health.

Five Females in their 20s. The first is the Queen of a group of warrior women in the jungle. She is regal but sexy.
The second is her tough and loyal second-in-command.
The other three are warriors of varying personalities.

Auditions will be by appointment on Monday, August 11, between 1PM and 5 PM.  If you're available during the dates noted above and are interested in participating in a very fun, very campy shoot, please let me know and we'll set up an audition appointment.  If you're interested but can't make the audition date, contact me anyway and we'll work something out.

Send headshots and resumes to joshua@chucksboy.com.

2009 Internships with the Traverse City Film Festival

The Traverse City Film Festival is looking for interns for its fifth anniversary film festival. The TCFF is a non-profit 501c3 organization founded in 2005 by Oscar-winning filmmaker Michael Moore. We offer on-going, unpaid internships for students and young professionals who wish to acquire hands-on experience in festival management.

REQUIREMENTS: We are open to students from many areas of study. Interns should be dependable, committed fast learners who are able to see projects through to completion. Interns should be organized while having the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Applicants interning for college credit are preferred.

DESCRIPTION: We are looking for interns to help in one or more areas, including office administration, concessions and merchandise, development, box office, hospitality and guest services, bookkeeping and finance, scheduling and logistics, venue set up, theater operations, publicity, programming and publications.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Applicants should be very comfortable with computers, proficient with web browsers, Excel, and Word, and capable of basic computer troubleshooting. Experience with imaging, Photoshop and InDesign is a plus. Cross-platform experience is also a plus.

DESIRABLE SKILLS: Please note in your cover letter any experience in the following: working with a variety of file types (ai, tiff, jpeg, avi, wmv, mpeg), basic HTML skills, and any previous experience with office management, movie theaters, or film festivals. Please also detail any writing and communication skills, experience with detailed work, people and customer service skills, and organizational skills.

DATES AND HOURS: The festival will take on a few interns focusing on office and festival administration beginning in May 2009, and quite a few interns will begin in mid to late June 2009. We also offer festival-only internships beginning on or around July 20. All positions are full-time and all interns must be available through August 7.

LOCATION: Downtown Traverse City, Michigan. We do not provide housing, so you will need to make sure you have a place to stay within easy commuting distance. Discounted housing in local college dorm rooms is available, and we may be able to place interns in the homes of area volunteers.

TO APPLY: Send your resume and cover letter to interns@traversecityfilmfestival.org or fax to 231-929-4263. Application deadline is May 3, 2009. Interviews will be conducted via phone to fit your schedule between May 4 and May 12. A meet and greet will be held with selected candidates who can visit Traverse City on May 9, and the 2009 interns will be notified on May 14. A few interns will be accepted and notified early.
